Vend POS opens first office in Canada

Vend, a cloud-based point of sale (POS) and inventory, customer management software company, opened its first (and only) office in Toronto.

Since its establishment in 2010, the New Zealand-based company has grown, and continues to expand in size with more than 10,000 customers worldwide and offices in Auckland (HQ, NZ), Melbourne (Australia), and San Francisco, CA. Vend will also open offices in Berlin and London [in the coming months].

“We picked Toronto as our North American base of operations for Sales and Customer Success because Toronto’s amazing art scene and culture of retail made it a natural fit for Vend,” says CEO and Founder of Vend, Vaughan Rowsell. “After looking at cities across the continent, we continue to be amazed by the talent here. Plus, being a cousin of The Commonwealth, we share an appreciation of the Metric System, our Head of State, and Parliament.”

Vend provides retailers with all the tools they need to run their stores, with none of the crazy overheads of traditional systems. Vend works just like current POS systems, but because it is cloud-based and runs on a web browser, it works on any computer, including an iPad, anywhere in the world. It even keeps working in offline mode, if an internet connection is lost. Vend also provides inventory management, customer loyalty, pricing and accounting tools and easily integrates with dozens of applications for business to customize their POS system to their needs.

The Toronto office will employ more than 40 staff on the customer service, sales, IT, and channel teams by the end of 2015 and it will service the rapidly-growing Vend customer base in Canada and North America.

“We couldn’t be more excited to welcome Vend to Toronto. Right from the start, our team has really enjoyed working with them on their venture into Canada,” said Renato Discenza, President and CEO of Invest Toronto. “We are so pleased with the announcement of their new global support office in downtown Toronto, and we are happy to see that their investment in Toronto continues to grow and flourish. Here in Toronto, Vend has become part of a vibrant and flourishing technology sector that is second to none in Canada, and we wish them the best of success.”

To mark the occasion in typical Vend style, everyone will be invited to have a go at smashing the cash register. The iconic cash register destruction showcases how switching to a cloud-based point-of-sale system frees independent retailers to run their businesses efficiently and effectively from wherever they are.
