Is 24/7 shopping only possible online? Wanzl’s answer is loud and clear: absolutely not! The innovation leader’s unique 24-hour store concept fulfils a long-cherished dream of bricks-and-mortar retailers. Design, hardware and software; as a holistic systems provider, Wanzl is responsible for all processes in the development and implementation of a 24-hour shop. Wanzl will demonstrate how a shop of this type could look at the EuroCis 2019 trade fair, at Stand B 04 in Hall 10. The stand will showcase a chemist’s as the example outlet, however, the shop format can also be cost-effectively replicated across many sectors with a range of technical options.

Automated check-in

The fully automatic Galaxy Gate access control system from Wanzl gets the shopping experience off to a smooth start: visitors enter by scanning a QR code from the operator app, or using the barcode on a customer card. An informational column explains the access process if needed. The system automatically records the customer number at the same time, and if everything is in order the software-controlled ESG swivel arm opens straight away. The series range includes individual and tandem access points with barrier-free access for wheelchair users and pushchairs. The design of the Galaxy Gate – which has been recognised by the German Design Board 2016 – guarantees a stylish welcome, and the gate can also always be customized to your corporate design.

Custom-tailored shop fittings

The perfect design concept for any location and every space. When it comes to a retailer’s competitiveness, individuality and the best possible comfort are ultimately essential for shoppers. With this in mind, Wanzl architects analyse the location in detail and identify the customer’s specific goals and ideas. From this basis, the areas are planned, the most suitable materials chosen, the required product ranges agreed and the actual structure of the store is settled. As a complete system solutions provider, Wanzl has a wide range of shop-specific solutions that present products beautifully.

Self-scanning tunnel and self-checkout

After customers have completed their shopping, they head to the checkout area, where the Galaxy Port opens automatically to allow access to the Wanzl cash desk with self-scanning tunnel. With a functional, linear design, its intelligent structure guides the customer through their preferred scanning process. Customers can also access information about the innovative process at their leisure, by way of the info tower. All items are placed on the checkout conveyor belt and recorded digitally. The scanning process starts after the customer is identified via the app; goods security is suspended while scanning takes place.

Before leaving the shop, the customer pays for their shopping using their preferred payment method such as debit or credit card, PayPal, or even mobile payment. If a customer leaves the store without paying, an alarm is triggered. Manipulation and deception are also effectively prevented with the new Wanzl self-checkout. An integrated set of scales in the packing shelf checks whether the scanned goods match those that have been packaged. As an alternative to the self-scanning tunnel, customers can scan their purchased goods themselves. A large touchscreen enables a clear overview of the registered goods, and guides the customer through the subsequent payment process.
