Ethalon: Opportunity-oriented workforce management at Görtz
In order to influence the completion of sales rate positively, shoe and accessory retailer Görtz builds on the perfect mix of human experience and IT support in ist staff planning (PEP).
Ludwig Görtz GmbH, one of the most profitable retailers for footwear and fashion accessories in Europe, uses ARGOS workforce management software for scheduling staff planning. After 135 years of experience in scheduling on paper, Görtz has scheduled electronically since mid-2008, and scheduling is now much faster and more effective than ever before.
Scoring points through consultation
In addition to the extensive and high-quality product line, personal advice is what makes a visit at Görtz so special. Classically, retailers use like-for-like sales data from previous years to determine staffing requirements. Since Görtz follows the path of “opportunityoriented” staff deployment, the number of visitors plays the most important role. The aim of optimal staff deployment is to increase the number of sales transactions. Distributing sales staffdirectly, to target existing customers without exceeding the budget is a complex task. In 2008 Görtz opted for ARGOS software, partly because the application integrates visitor frequency data as a basis for optimized planning.
Ideal staff means optimal control
The algorithms that ARGOS uses help staff planners to predict optimal staffing needs. An ideal value, based on visitor frequency rates as well as sales and revenue data, can be proposed quickly and then adapted. Moreover, the software takes company-based wage agreements automatically into consideration and ensures that employees are deployed within the limits.
