International Rollout by METRO of PIM Solution from SA2 Worldsync

New technology optimizes supply chain processes

Alexandria, VA, U.S. and Cologne, Germany :The METRO Group has launched an international rollout of the WS PIM Product Information Management solution from SA2 Worldsync. The solution is designed to consolidate the existing product data and will enhance the PIM systems previously used at METRO - including the MMS-CAT master data catalogue developed in-house, which is to be replaced by WS PIM. With this rollout, the retail group is underlining the importance of master data quality and will improve central processes along the supply chain.

The rollout of SA2 Worldsync PIM is divided into several phases. Having successfully completed a pilot project with SA2 Worldsync in Denmark, METRO is now gradually rolling the project out to other European countries.

SA2 Worldsync supplies its PIM software as a fully web-based solution which can be adapted to meet the specific requirements of the individual METRO countries. The use of modern Web 2.0 technologies, combined with intelligent user guidance ensures a high level of user friendliness. Computers and workflows ensure data quality, enhancing it further and making it available in the required format for other systems.

"The quality of the master data has a major bearing on the efficiency of downstream supply chain processes", says Michael Macek, Head of Procurement Solutions in the Corporate Information Management department of METRO Cash & Carry International. "The rollout of the PIM solution from SA2 Worldsync allows us to use international standards, thereby lowering costs and reducing the expenditure for buyers. In addition, the system harmonizes ideally with the SA2 Worldsync master data pool used by us. We encourage our suppliers who are currently still using different master data systems to also benefit from the advantages of our new PIM system."

"We are delighted that the METRO Group has chosen our PIM solution", adds Ulf Adebahr, Chief Executive at Pironet NDH, SA2 Worldsync's parent company. "The advantages of SA2 Worldsync PIM are particularly evident in complex and decentralized structures - comprehensive functions for the management of product master data, easy customization to meet any requirements or corporate structures and a direct link to our data pool."
