Dr. Michael Fries, former executive board member of CEWE Color, joins the business management of Onlineprinters, one of the leading online print shops in Europe, as of 1 July 2014.

The experienced printing industry key player will take charge of the business management of Onlineprinters Holding GmbH and its subsidiaries Druckerei und Verlag E. Meyer GmbH and Onlineprinters GmbH together with Walter Meyer, founder and CEO of Onlineprinters. The online printing specialist Fries brings many years of comprehensive strategic and practical experience in the industry to the table.

In his last function as member of the executive board of the photobook manufacturer CEWE Color, he was responsible for the company's German operations and the establishment of the B2B online print shop Viaprinto until 2013. He gained international management experience with Boston Consulting Group and before that he managed the production of Mohn Media in the areas of pre-press and sheet-fed printing with Bertelsmann AG.

Strategy for international expansion of Onlineprinters

"We are very proud that Dr. Michael Fries is supporting us in the next strategic development stage of our international expansion", says CEO Walter Meyer, who is looking forward to the new cooperation. Onlineprinters is among the strongest growing competitors on the European online printing market. Its growth rate of approx. 20 % per year and an annual turnover of hundreds of millions make the online printing service provider one of the market leaders of the industry in Europe.

"Onlineprinters has already written a great success story in the printing industry: Walter Meyer has been very successful in online trading for ten years, and the company is looking back on thirty years of experience in the printing industry. This is a strong starting position from which we can further penetrate the online printing market in Europe. Onlineprinters has an incredible amount of potential, know-how and strong brands for further expansion. I am looking forward to facing this new challenge alongside Mr Meyer and all of the over 500 Onlineprinters employees", says Dr. Michael Fries, the new CEO, who is eager to tackle the challenges lying ahead of him.

The formula for success "All print products reasonably priced and quickly from one source" is paying off: The online print shop has built a customer base of over 340,000 customers with currently 14 online shops in Europe under the German brand diedruckerei.de and the international brand Onlineprinters. The high-quality range of offset and digital printed products at www.onlineprinters.com comprises anything from flyers to complete trade fair stands, from brochures from print runs of 1 to 200,000 catalogues. The printed products are produced in the in-house production facilities at the German company headquarters in the Nuremberg metropolitan area.
