Eye on innovation: Unique Secure introduces a world's first at RBTE 2015
MePOS is the first ‘5-in-1‘ intelligent self-diagnostic Tablet Point of Sale (POS)
Run in association with US-based inventory and supply chain solutions business 4R Systems, the Eye on Innovation trail at RBTE 2015 in London aimed to shine a spotlight on the solutions that will transform retail over the coming years.
One of the innovations selected by the steering committee is a new product from physical security and display solutions provider Unique Secure. The vendor's MePOS is a uniquely designed innovation that stands out for being the first 'five-in-one' point of sale solution in the market.
Unique Secure is confident that the product will provide a step change for retail and other sectors, with the tech firm suggesting the tool will give merchants the ability to invest once, but get multiple modes of operation which can quickly be deployed as shop footfall demands.
With one single product, retailers can now create the following 5 modes of selling, depending on how they would like to set up their POS.
The modes are:
- Traditional cashier mode with integrated PED (Pin entry device)
- Traditional cashier mode with PED free-standing
- Traditional cashier mode with PED free-standing and MBU reversed
- Stand-alone kiosk mode
- Mobile point of sale (mPOS)
The MePOS is unlike any other tablet based POS in the market. Within the Main Base Unit (MBU) is an intelligent diagnostic system we call the ‘brain’. It not only runs all devices attached, but also performs set-up diagnostics every time it is switched on, similar to your car when the ignition is turned on. The brain also performs ‘condition-based monitoring’, it continually checks all devices are working as intended. In the unlikely event of a problem, the user is notified. This system saves huge time and money on support calls and maintenance, ensuring more time is spent with customers.
