Evacuation Procedures Now Required by Retailers and Hoteliers to Complement Access Policy
Retailers and the leisure industry, including hotels and clubs, recognise the need to provide full access to all through the provision of lifts and ramps. They have now become aware of the need to have an evacuation procedure in place at all times, particularly for when it would not be safe to use lifts, and stairways are the only means of escape.
The Evac+Chair 600H model is fitted with handles at time of manufacture and therefore people can be carried up stairs where necessary.
EVAC+Chair 600H – folding stairway emergency evacuation chair with tubular aluminium frame, vinyl covered nylon sling seat and front wheels. Descent of chair is slowed by two side traction belts which stabilise the chair. One attendant can take the chair down the stairs using the rear push handle. Folding rear trolley assembly fitted as standard, converts the Evac+Chair to four wheels for non-stairwell evacuation. This modified 300H uses foldable carry handles to enable operators to negotiate stairs and obstacles during stairway evacuation and it requires a second operator for lifting and carrying.
