Large Format MicroTouch DST Touch Screen Application

3M, the diversified technology company, will demonstrate its innovative portfolio of touch screen and touch monitor offerings for the self-service kiosk and ATM markets on Stand 2C.14 at Kiosk Europe Expo 2008. Highlights include large format MicroTouch Dispersive Signal Technology (DST) touch screens in 32”, 40”, 42”and 46” screen sizes, MicroTouch ClearTek II and ToughTouch II Capacitive Touch Screens, as well as the latest chassis and desktop LCD touch monitors from 3M.

MicroTouch DST
DST touch screens offer integrators an ideal solution for large-format interactive displays in most public environments and applications, including digital signage, retail point-of-sale, point-of-information, conference rooms and education presentation systems. They offer unique qualities not available from existing large format touch solutions such as fast, accurate and reliable touch response, exceptional light transmission and easy integration. In addition, they have no front surface components to impede bezel integration, they are easily sealable, and feature chemically-strengthened glass to ensure operation is unaffected by surface contaminants. Furthermore, their “dynamic touch” feature ignores static objects on the screen to allow for multi-user touch capabilities.

MicroTouch ClearTek II Touch Screens
Also on show will be world renowned ClearTek II Capacitive Touch Screens, ideal for operators of self-service kiosks and ATMs. The screens operate from +70°C to -40°C, which is a strong advantage for outdoor, unattended and cold climate environments. Other key features include at least five times more wear resistance and durability over competitive solutions, accurate touch performance and the highest levels of light transmission in the market place today. The screens are available in sizes from 6.4” to 32” diagonal.

MicroTouch ToughTouch Touch Screens
Alongside ClearTek II touch screens 3M will demonstrate its MicroTouch ToughTouch II Touch Screens. These highly robust touch screens are helping ATMs to operate successfully in all parts of the world with their enhanced light transmission at 86.5% average and world-class storage temperature ranging from -50 °C/+ 85 °C. They are also accurate and responsive with high impact resistance and superior wear resistance making them ideal for unattended and high threat environments. For applications where user confidentiality is required, a privacy film can be integrated between the touch sensor and the laminated backing glass of ToughTouch touch screen.

LCD Touch Monitors
In addition to the above, 3M will be exhibiting its outstanding LCD touch monitor solutions incorporating ClearTek II capacitive touch technology. The M170 17” Touch Monitor has a slim contemporary design with tidy cable management and a hidden power supply in the base making it ideal for bar top, retail, hospitality and leisure environments. It features maximum touch stability as well as a peripheral attachment system, locking mechanism, adjustable display angle, and various mounting options.

The CT150 15” Touch Monitor is designed to meet the compact touch display requirements of kiosk and enclosure manufacturers. It is fast and easy to integrate, offers a 500:1 contrast ratio, three customer installable bezel options, an array of designer-flexible mounting methods and a remote control on-screen-display adjustment module. The monitor can be powered using either the built-in power supply or an exterior power adapter.
