Xtralis VESDA ECO Ex Wins Fire Product Innovation of the Year at IFSEC/FIREX International 2013
Award is the Tenth Won by Xtralis Safety & Security Solutions in the Past Two Years
Xtralis, the world’s leading provider of early & reliable detection and remote visual verification safety & security solutions, was awarded Fire Product Innovation of the Year for VESDA ECO Ex at IFSEC/FIREX International 2013, held 13-16 May 2013 in Birmingham, UK.
Xtralis was presented the award at the IFSEC & FIREX Awards gala, a celebration of the best product and solution innovations in the security and fire markets. ECO Ex, a gas detector module for use with VESDA smoke detection system in Class I Division 2 classified hazardous locations, was selected by an independent, blue-chip panel of judges over three other finalists. The award is the 10th major award won by Xtralis safety and security solutions worldwide in in the past two years.

Working within a VESDA pipe network, ECO Ex eliminates any uncertainties associated with locating traditional spot gas detectors, providing a reliable solution to detect gas threats, regardless of air movement. VESDA ECO Ex also provides significant installation and routine maintenance cost savings over conventional multi-point gas detection solutions by reducing the number of detectors required to cover an area, and providing easy access for routine maintenance.
VESDA ECO Ex has been deployed by hundreds of blue-chip companies worldwide providing point, zone, or total-area coverage to suit different applications in a wide array of hazardous environments. Installations include datacenters, battery-charging rooms, pharmaceutical warehouses, paint storage rooms, national testing laboratories, boiler plant rooms, underground utility, service, and road tunnels, refrigerated stores and plant rooms, water treatment and sewage plants, power generation plants, metal processing plants, and steel mills.
Each VESDA ECO Ex gas detector can house up to two gas sensors, and additional detectors can be added easily to the VESDA pipe network to monitor more gases if required. Seventeen different gas sensors are already available, and re-calibrated sensor cartridges are easily replaced in the field and make converting to different gas sensors or replacing sensors a simple task.
