Consumers can digitally unlock the exclusive footage, courtesy of Mission and Guerrero Tortillas, by simply downloading the free DigitalFood app to their iOS or Android smartphones and following the onscreen instructions to view the content: Pope Francis' monumental visit to the United States and his canonization of Fr. Junipero Serra in Washington, D.C.

"This is such an exciting and pivotal moment as we continue to expand the frontiers of what we can offer customers and what we are able to achieve through virtual reality," said Eddie Vasquez, Food 4 Less. "For the first time in history, consumers will be able to get up close and personal with the Bishop of Rome and the leader of the worldwide Catholic Church. We are deeply honored to be able to provide this opportunity and excited for what's to come."

CausePlay, the agency behind the DigitalFood App, partnered with 12 Corners, Wonder Vision and Invision by The Associated Press to provide the exclusive content.

"Virtual Reality is the future of interactive content and being able to be the first to provide an exclusive and historic production of Pope Francis in this new medium is amazing," said Jonas Hudson of CausePlay. "Distribution of this content at grocery is a natural fit as the channel provides both reach and promotional support to reach a vast user base." 

The DigitalFood app is available for free download for iPhone and Android devices and currently provides Kroger's Food 4 Less and Foods Co. shoppers with exclusive marketing sweepstakes, music and video content, partner recipes, augmented reality platform, and now, exclusive virtual reality content.
