Jessops Selects The DigiPoS Toccare Touch Screen

Leading photographic retailer opts for industry first technology in its newly-opened Centre of Excellence store.

Jessops, the UK’s leading photographic retailer, has selected the Toccare Bezel Free Touch screen from technology provider, DigiPoS Store Solutions, for its recently opened ‘Centre of Excellence’ store in Birmingham.

Earlier this month, Jessops announced the opening of its newly refurbished 4000ft ‘Centre of Excellence’ – the UK’s largest specialist camera store, showcasing cameras, accessories and photo products. The retailer has opted for DigiPoS Store Solutions point-of-sale (POS) technology, in the form of the Toccare Bezel Free Touch Screen – a first for the retail industry. The new ‘Centre of Excellence’ store currently houses eight screens, supported by DigiPoS’ Retail Active 8000 processors.

Jessops has worked with DigiPoS for more than 10 years, and opted for the Toccare screen in its new store. Commenting on the installation, Kam Patel, retail technical support analyst at Jessops, said: “The black gloss finish of the Tocarre screens fits in really well with the look and feel of the new concept stores, and the product is also strong and durable. Given we plan to use these screens for a long time these were key factors. “The screen provides outstanding image transmission and multi-touch technology, which really helps store staff to showcase our products, when showing clients the Jessops website.”

Ian Patterson, managing director EMEA at DigiPoS Store Solutions, added: “Touch screen technology is becoming a must have for retailers when it comes to the point of sale. When tills are right in front of the customer they need to look good.

“A camera purchase isn’t one that is taken lightly by a customer – they need to feel they are being provided with all of the information, and interaction with the product is vital. Touch screen technology supports this process well.”

Kam Patel added: “DigiPoS was able to turn the product around quickly and in time for the new store opening. So far we have been very impressed by the technology, and the support offered has been second to none.” Jessops is now planning the opening of its second ‘Centre of Excellence’ store in Manchester, where the retailer has committed to using the Toccare technology.
